Our mission is to actively promote and develop a spectrum of sustainable enterprises. We do this through education, training, mentoring and consultancy. As part of our dedication to being a social enterprise, 75% of our profit also goes towards this mission.
In 2019, we delivered:
17,760 HRK in pro bono work and 3,006.8 HRK in financial donations
(cca £2,000) (cca £343)
The Fresh Box – 34 hours pro bono
Having discussed the idea of delivering locally produced, organic and fresh fruit and vegetables to the local market for a while, the guys at 45 Degrees Sailing came with their own take on the idea. Due to our connections in the local agriculture and farming sector, we ran a number of working sessions with them to develop the concept, creating their website, connecting them with potential producers and finally going live.
SplitNomadGallery – 16 hours pro bono
An artist with a passion for promotion, education and development got in touch with her long-term plan. We met a number of times to discuss her ideas, slowly whittling them into a coherent plan. This year she launched the first step to promote and engage local artists, being awarded with an initial grant. We’ve continued providing support when needed and are looking forward to seeing what 2020 holds.
Hack4Split – 24 hours pro bono
We ran the first social hackathon three years ago with no funding, just sponsorship. The goal was for the tech sector to solve problems that the third sector are facing. The good practise was recognised by the local university and a few charities, who applied for funding as part of a larger project. This year, we provided support with the organisation and running of Hack4Split 2.0, and have just started with Hack4Split 3.0.
Schools education – 24 hours pro bono
Having received funding for a similar project, we offered schools outside of the project the same opportunity – to have extra-curricular entrepreneurship lessons for their students. The focus was social enterprise and student co-operatives. We worked with the students to develop some product ideas and a plan to take them to market.
Free Workshops – 12 workshops
We run free introductory lectures about social enterprise regularly at a WIP coworking space, and run a similar talk but with a workshop on business model canvas for the unemployment office in Split. This sometimes leads to further conversations with those interested in developing their own social enterprise or purpose driven business.
SplitBiz – 5 meetups + membership of meetup.com
Together with Saltwater Workspace Split, we organise and host a business meetup intended for all entrepreneurs in the local region to come, network, listen and learn to and from each other.
Udruga Permakultura Dalmacija – 3006.8HRK financial donation
After working closely with PKD in 2018, and seeing the work they were doing in promoting sustainable practise in Dalmatia, we decided to donate all of our 75% of profits to this non-profit organisation. We are working now on looking at the best way to spend the funds, to generate further income, be it through a product or service.
We hope that together we can deliver more impact in 2020, get in touch if you’re looking for support and we’ll discuss the options!
